Two people look at the same proposal and reach different conclusions.
One sees a chance to move quickly. The other sees a risk the team has not addressed.
The disagreement itself is useful. The trouble begins when either person treats a different conclusion as a personal flaw.
Before defending your position, ask: “What are you seeing that I may be missing?” Then explain the concern behind your own view.
You may still disagree. But now the conversation has a better chance of producing a sound decision instead of a winner and a loser.
When you disagree at work, do you understand the concern behind the other person’s position?
