You receive a short email that simply says, “Please come see me.”
Within five minutes, you have imagined a complaint, a crisis, a restructuring, and possibly the end of your career.
Then you walk into the office and discover they needed the password to a shared document.
Occam’s Razor offers a useful correction:
All things being equal, the simplest explanation is usually the best one.
It does not mean the simplest answer is always correct.
It means we should not invent additional assumptions when a straightforward explanation already fits what we know.
Before building an elaborate theory, check the obvious possibility.
Sometimes the mysterious organizational crisis really is just someone forgetting their password.
